The
center promotes excellence in American craft by teaching tradition and innovation
in technique, concept and design. It provides access to the highest quality
craft education, professional artists, and career opportunities. It offers
students the option of five Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or Craft Certificate
concentrations in clay, fibers, glass, metals and wood. The center's B.F.A.
program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design
and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
At the center's 500-acre facility overlooking Center Hill Lake, visitors will
find handblown glass, pottery, ceramic, fabrics, iron and metal pieces, handcrafted
wooden items, and many more treasures. You can also take a workshop and learn
how to make your own masterpiece. The center is administered by Tennessee Tech
University. For more information, call 931-372-3051 or visit www.tntech.edu/craftcenter.
Workshops
The center offers more than 100 workshops each year in blacksmithing, clay, fibers, glass, metals and wood; also available are drawing, painting, and photography classes. Evening and weekend classes are available during Tennessee Tech's fall and spring semesters. Five-day intensive workshops are offered during the summer.
